Curriculum

Our curriculum is broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated, with detailed planning and recording to ensure continuity and progression throughout the school. The activities planned are focused on the development of skills, concepts, attitude and knowledge according to the age and ability of the children.

The basis of the curriculum is the National Curriculum. This is based around the following subjects:

  • Core Subjects - English, Information and Communication Technology,  Mathematics & Science.
  • Foundation Subjects - Art, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education & Technology.
  • Religious Education

Teaching is carried out using a variety of styles with whole class, group and individual teaching being practised according to the subject and the needs of the child. Much of the content of our curriculum is delivered as a topic based approach involving first-hand experiences and practical activities. Day visits and residential visits, at Y5 & Y6, are important elements in the experiences of the children.

The below links give further information about the teaching of individual subjects, phonics and reading schemes and the curriculum followed at each key stage.

Curriculum Complaints Procedure

All complaints will be dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Most complaints can best be resolved in discussion with the head teacher or other staff. Failing this, copies of relevant documents, explaining the procedures for considering complaints, will be supplied to the complainant or referral made to the L.E.A.
